A GROUP of swimmers from Dyke House College have helped to clinch a regional title.

Shay Wood, Oliver Corbett, Leah Collins, Lucy Barnes (all of Year 7), Jack Ridley, Vinney Rowbotham, Tilly Jackson-Smith and Charley Groves (of Year 8) formed part of the Hartlepool AquaForce team that shone at South Shields.

Team managers Matthew Burke and Caitlin Collins are also Dyke House students and they helped oversee the Junior League Division Two triumph.

Dyke House coach Alison Middleton, who is also at AquaForce, was thoroughly impressed with the group having won their last three heats and then the finals at the Haven Pool.

AquaForce, who train at Dyke House, had to beat Morpeth, Darlington, Richmond, Durham and Alnwick to win the title.

Alison said: “This is a massive achievement. Now they will move up to Division 1 after seven years of hard work to get this far and what a fantastic journey we have all had.

“Lots of hard work goes into the training and dedication to this sport and I’m very proud of these children.”

Dyke House has a fantastic sports scholarship programme called the Elite Development Squad and swimming is part of it.
